Minister Banerjee s resignation comes in the heels of the state s upcoming election, and follows a string of previous defections of TMC leaders to BJP

West Bengal Forest Minister Rajib Banerjee resigned from his position today. The cabinet minister did not give any reasons for his resignation. His resignation, however, comes in the middle of a recent string of exits from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee s Trinamool Congress (TMC) as the state gears up for Assembly elections in the months of March-April. He is the third minister to resign from the state government in one month.

Falkland Islands lawmakers discussed on social media and in the Legislative Assembly late in 2020 a need for a ‘pre-election program’ to encourage members of the public to stand for election as a Member of the Legislative Assembly late in 2021.
The aim is to ensure that there is adequate knowledge as to what challenges and responsibilities the office represents.
A Legislative Assembly Press release confirmed that a pre-election program will be run for those who have an interest in standing to be MLAs in 2021, or those who have a general interest in Falkland Islands politics.

Lesser Slave Lake MLA ousted from UCP caucus

Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pat Rehn is no longer part of the UCP Caucus. The now-independent MLA, who admitted to travelling to Mexico over the Christmas holidays, was removed from caucus by Premier Jason Kenney on Thursday morning.
Rehn, who was publicly criticized by Slave Lake council, suggesting his performance as MLA was subpar, was also the target of a recent letter sent by councillors from the Town of High Prairie.
“I’ve heard from many of our residents the same concerns; they have not been happy with his performance, and I know as a council we have talked about it before…but we really haven’t done anything about it,” said High Prairie Mayor Brian Panasiuk during a recent council meeting.

Purba Medinipur (West Bengal) [India], January 8 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) West Bengal president Dilip Ghosh on Friday said that Trinamool Congress (TMC) is more dangerous than coronavirus and after the next legislative assembly election, the virus will go away from the state. Someone asked me, Dada! when this corona will go away? I said that though I m not a doctor but it will go away as the vaccine is coming. But Trinamool Congress (TMC) is more dangerous than corona and I can say when they will go away. We invented the vaccine for them and after May 20, this virus will definitely go away from Bengal and there will be no virus named TMC, Ghosh said at a public meeting here.
