Verger); Dalhousie University ( MacDonald) The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened global awareness on the importance of understanding complex political, social, and behavioral factors influencing public acceptance of effective, scientifically rigorous, and ethically sound recommendations to reduce transmission, including future vaccine acceptance. The past 10 years have seen an increasing number of studies on the topic of vaccine hesitancy, which has been defined as the reluctance or refusal to vaccinate despite availability of vaccines. The phenomenon is complex and varies for different vaccines and across time and contexts. This review provides an overview of literature on the topic, starting with a discussion of terminology and concepts before looking at potential causes, consequences, and impacts of resistance to vaccination.

Image Source: IANS News Brussels, April 10 : The Council of the European Union (EU) approved an additional funding of 121.5 million euros ($144.6 million) from the bloc s budget to address urgent needs related to the Covid-19 pandemic. In a statement issued on Friday, the EU Council said the additional funds will be used to prepare for digital green certificates to facilitate free movement and develop further the exchange platform for passenger locator forms, reports Xinhua news agency. The funds will also be used to strengthen the capacity of EU member states to detect and monitor new variants of the coronavirus, while ensuring sufficient testing capacity in the member states.

A videoconference session of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly will take place in Tauride Palace, St Petersburg on 15 April. Heads of the parliamentary delegations to the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, experts, and representatives of the secretariat of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly will take part in it. The session will be chaired by Chairwoman of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko.
