Govt hikes MSP of Paddy by Rs 72 per quintal
New Delhi, Jun 9 (UNI) The Government on Wednesday announced an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Kharif Paddy (common) by Rs 72 per quintal and that of Bajra by Rs 100 per quintal.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Kharif crops for marketing season 2021-22.
The Government has also decided to increase the MSP of pulses, oilseeds, maize and some other crops.
Briefing mediapersons about the decision, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar said the MSP of Paddy (common) has been increased from Rs 1868 to Rs 1940 per quintal. MSP of Bajra has been increased from Rs 2150 to Rs 2250 per quintal.

The government has constituted a task force for its ‘AgriStack’ project which will deliberate the contours of a Unified Farmers Service Platform (USFP), it said in replies to Parliamentary questions.
The question raised by Indian National Congress Member of Parliament Pradyut Bordoloi, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar said that the Task Force is only working a framework document and Digital Blue Print for the UFSP. The database will be built only once the Ministry approves the Task Force’s recommendations, after involving the relevant organisations.

The Union government has said that creating a separate board for arecanut is not a priority for it. At the same time it has said that arecanut production in Karnataka, which contributes about 75% to the domestic production, witnessed a growth of 95% during the last five years.
In a written reply to unstarred questions by the Member of Parliament K.C. Ramamurthy in the Rajya Sabha on February 5, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar said that the total production in the State touched 8.5 lakh tonnes in 2019-20 from 4.36 lakh tonnes in 2015-16, thus posting a growth of 94.95 %.

GUWAHATI: Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora announced a new animal ambulance service at the National Agri-Horticultural Show 2021 at Bokakhat in Golaghat district on Thursday. The Assam government has introduced the animal ambulance service in an attempt to provide a new boost to animal husbandry and veterinary sector of the state.
Minister Bora distributed the animal ambulances named as Pashudhan Sarathi to provide proper healthcare to the animals.
