A west Cork farmer has been elected the next President of the Irish Cattle & Sheep Farmers Association.
Dermot Kelleher from Cork and Sean McNamara from Westmeath were both in the running for the position.
Because of Covid restrictions the usual ICSA election process was changed and the election for President was held via a postal ballot of ICSA National Executive members.
West Cork man Dermot Kelleher will take office at the Association s AGM in January when current president Edmond Phelan will step down.
He was elected with 47 votes, from a total valid poll of 87 votes.
Dermot Kelleher is a suckler farmer from Inchigeela in west Cork, and is a long-standing member of Association having served as chair of Cork west ICSA and chair of the association’s suckler committee. He currently holds the position of ICSA vice president for Munster.
