Biden Promises 50% Reduction In US Greenhouse Gas Emission WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - President Joe Biden has promised that the United States will cut its greenhouse gas emission by half by the end of this decade. Biden announced the new national target at the virtual Leaders Summit on Climate Change Thursday. This is consistent with the President s goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by no later than 2050 and of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Leaders from 40 countries attended the two-day virtual summit that kicked off on The Earth Day. Biden pledged that the United States will double its annual public climate financing to developing countries by 2024. He also promised to triple its public financing for climate application in developing countries by 2024.
