The facility is expected to mobilize US$1.5 billion in resources for a series of activities that include advisory services, project preparation and catalyzing private capital for investments in resilient infrastructure, nature and disaster-risk-based solutions.

Enumeration will foster socio-economic growth, improve livelihoods, says Obaseki

Assures of support for FG’s public works programme selection committee Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, restated that the ongoing enumeration exercise tagged: Data to Make Edo Great Again (Data to MEGA) will aid development planning, foster socio-economic development and improve livelihoods of Edo people. Obaseki said this when Country Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), Jean Bakole, and his delegation visited him at Government House, Benin City. He said: “The enumeration exercise has over 1,200 young men and women, who have been trained to collect data from the people for social interventions and economic planning. Data from Oredo Council Area has already been collected in 20 days.”

Global Shea Alliance trains 50 SMEs on product labelling and standards compliance

+ The Global Shea Alliance (GSA) has trained 50 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) on labelling and standards compliance to build their capacity on the registration and export processes that go into product certification in the country. The capacity building programme, which was supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the West Africa Competitiveness Programme (WACOMP), was to enable the members of the GSA, who were mainly into shea products to process their products for export. Speaking at the event on Wednesday, Jannuary 20, 2021 in Tamale, the Members Project Manager of GSA, Mr Prince Nunoo stated that many of the SMEs did not understand the processes involved in product registration, adding that the cosmetic products from shea needed to go through laid down procedure before getting onto the market.
