After Bodoland Council, BJP sweeps another autonomous body in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 19 : After the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls victory last week, the ruling BJP in Assam on Saturday swept the polls to the 36-member Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) by winning 33 seats, officials said.
According to the officials of Assam State Election Commission, BJP s junior ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won two seats while the opposition Congress managed only one seat.
BJP President J.P. Nadda greeted the people of Assam, BJP leaders and party functionaries besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the electoral success.

New Delhi [India], December 18 (ANI): The National Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and in-charge of Assam, Baijayant Panda on Friday said that there is no rift in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state. He recently visited Assam and had meetings with local party leaders to assess the situation.
Speaking to ANI, Panda said, BJP has never pushed away any ally. Some allies move away by their own political reasons. We are very much strong in the state. At the state level, we have an alliance with the Bodoland People s Front (BPF) and their ministers are in the Assam cabinet.
Panda said, “Let me point out track record of group of parties, even when the Modi government carried out surgical strike on terrorist camps across the border, this group sought proof of attack from the armed forces.”
He added, “Hypocrisy of these parties are clear. These parties in their manifesto have promised to enact similar laws now when Modi government has done they are opposing the same. They are misleading the people and misinformation campaign is going on. There is need to expose this nexus.”
Recently parliament passed Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020.

Justice Suman Shyam on Friday directed the Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes to obtain an instruction in the matter and submit a report to the court.

GUWAHATI: Bodoland Peoples Front chief Hagrama Mohilary has filed a petition in the Gauhati High Court, challenging the invitation to the UPPL-BJP-GSP combine to constitute the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
Justice Suman Shyam on Friday directed the Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes to obtain an instruction in the matter and submit a report to the court.
