BENGALURU (REUTERS) - India’s coronavirus death toll neared the bleak milestone of 200,000, with another 2,771 fatalities reported on Tuesday (April 27), while its armed forces pledged urgent medical aid to help battle the staggering spike in infections.
Over the past 24 hours, India recorded 323,144 new cases, below Monday s worldwide peak of 352,991, with overrun hospitals continuing to turn away patients due to a shortage of beds and oxygen supplies.
It reported 2,771 new deaths, but health experts believe the tally runs significantly higher. Please note that a huge fall in daily cases. is largely due to a heavy fall in testing. This should not be taken as an indication of falling cases, rather a matter of missing out on too many positive cases! Professor Rijo M. John, a health economist at the Indian Institute of Management in the southern state of Kerala, said in a post on Twitter.

The 2020 Converse National Day of Prayer drew 1,200 viewers for its virtual prayer day. Organizer Bob Altemus would be delighted of that interest level is repeated for the 2021 version, set for May 6.
The May 6 event, set for 9 a.m. at Converse North Park, 8200 Spring Town St. in Converse, will be the eighth annual prayer event that brings together men and women, friends and neighbors, pastors and parishioners - all to pray for their fellow man.
A State With A Great Idea!
It is no secret to the readers and visitors to IST that I am an antiwar activist and have been since the 1970s…….and finally some small movement on the state level is a great idea…..
The state in question here is Montana which has recently passed an antiwar legislation….
The Montana state legislature overwhelmingly passed a bipartisan and unprecedented resolution Tuesday calling on the federal government to end endless wars. The resolution passed 95-3 in the House and 47-2 in the Senate.
House Joint Resolution 9, sponsored by Rep. Ron Marshall (R-Hamilton), is the first of its kind to be introduced by any state and is currently being used as a model for other states across the country.
