When it comes to the pandemic, it’s clear Oklahomans – like most Americans – are so over it. It’s also abundantly clear COVID-19 isn’t finished with us.
From vaccination to infection rates, the state’s coronavirus numbers are trending in a troubling direction, especially given the rapid spread of the delta variant – now accounting for 12% of new Oklahoma cases.
It’s no mystery that meager vaccination rates yield more infections. What remains inexplicable is why so many Sooners resist the only prophylactic that not only can protect themselves, but also their loved ones and neighbors.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s College of Pharmacy in Weatherford and Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate to serve students and the citizens of Oklahoma through expansion of rural healthcare education.
The understanding was signed by SWOSU President Dr. Randy Beutler and OSU-CHS President Dr. Kayse Shrum, who will take over as president of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater on July 1.
SWOSU and OSU-CHS will explore options for a dual-degree partnership involving SWOSU’s Doctor of Pharmacy program and the OSU-CHS Physician Assistant program.
