Travelers flying through Oakland International Airport can pick up a Covid-19 test at newly installed vending machines.
Priced at $149, the At-Home Saliva RT-PCT tests are being sold at contactless kiosks in both of the airport s terminals, airport officials said.
It is the first US airport to offer Covid-19 tests in vending machines, according to a press release from the airport. Oakland international Airport is helping our travelers navigate this global pandemic by providing more testing options, said Bryant L. Francis, Port of Oakland Aviation Director in a statement.
A representative for Oakland International Airport did not immediately respond to Fox News request for further comment.
Oakland International Airport, meanwhile, had also made headlines last week for becoming the first U.S. airport to begin selling COVID-19 testing kits directly to travelers via vending machines. The machines, located in both of the airport s terminals, offer the at-home RT-PCT testing kits for between $130 and $150. Oakland International Airport on Wednesday became the first airport in the nation to begin selling COVID-19 tests from vending machines.
The testing option may offer a bit of hope for an industry that has been trying to reinstall passenger confidence ever since the virus decimated travel.
The take-home Saliva RT-PCT tests can be found at contactless kiosks located within both of the airport s terminals, airport officials announced Wednesday.
Customers must take the test on their own and return a saliva sample by FedEx. Customers will then receive the results through a mobile app, officials said.
