OAKLAND, Calif - Foot traffic at Oakland International Airport rebounded at a record pace between February and March, likely due to an increase in COVID-19 vaccinations, airport officials said Thursday.
Up nearly 60 percent, 182,000 more people traveled through the airport in March than in February, outpacing other airports in the region. Air cargo traffic was also up sharply.

OAKLAND (CBS SF) A standoff between Alameda County sheriff’s deputies and a man threatening to harm himself with a knife forced officials to shut down Terminal 1 at Oakland International Airport for about four hours Tuesday morning.
The incident began around 5:45 a.m. and impacted flights from Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Delta and others. Airport officials said Terminal 2 which is a hub for Southwest Airlines was operational.
The standoff ended at around 9:30 a.m. when the man was taken into custody and placed into an ambulance. There was no immediate word on his identity or his condition.
