Lawsuit settled between CaroMont Health and departing doctors

A lawsuit filed by seven doctors who left CaroMont Health s South Point Family Practice to form a new medical practice under the Charlotte-based Tryon Medical Partners umbrella has been voluntarily dismissed. The doctors had taken the legal action against CaroMont Health in September of 2019 because their former employer wanted them to pay $1.8 million to be freed from a non compete clause in their contracts. A check of public records at the Gaston County Clerk s Office showed the suit had been dismissed but gave no details of the settlement between the litigants. Neither did statements released by the parties involved. A statement from CaroMont Health said simply, CaroMont Medical Group and seven physicians formerly in practice at South Point Family Practice (have) reached a confidential settlement agreement resolving a dispute over non compete provisions included in the physicians employment contracts.

(WBTV) - The second suspect in the murder of Michael Lee Moore on April 14 was arrested Friday. Officers arrested 26-year-old Donald Christopher Wheeling hours after alerting the community to be on the lookout for him and labeling him armed and dangerous. He was arrested after fleeing from county police officers on a stolen motorcycle. Wheeling has been charged with first degree murder, felony fleeing to elude arrest and possession of stolen property.

Progress report on CaroMont Health s new Belmont hospital Most people driving on I-85 in Belmont can see the progress being made on CaroMont Health s planned new hospital. There are logging trucks and trees coming out on land adjacent to Belmont Abbey College where CaroMont Health will build a hospital that should be seeing its first patients by July 2023 - just more than two years away. Signs along the interstate tout not just the hospital, but also the connection it will have with Belmont Abbey College. The college made the land available for the hospital to be built, and started a nursing department in anticipation of partnering with the new hospital, which will be named CaroMont Regional Medical Center - Belmont.
