Arcadia Man Charged With Controlled Substance Violation Following March 13 Incident

An Arcadia man wanted on an outstanding warrant for controlled substance violations has been taken into custody by the Carroll Police Department. According to Carroll County District Court records, 39-year-old Chad Alvin Prichard was arrested Wednesday, May 19 on the class B felony charge. The arrest stems from an incident during the early morning hours of March 13 in Carroll’s Northwest Park. Authorities say an officer approached Pritchard to investigate why he was in the park after hours, but he fled on foot when law enforcement approached. He was apprehended a short distance later in the 1400 block of Harriet Avenue. Over 18 grams of substance believed to be methamphetamine were located on his person and sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) laboratory. Test results confirmed the materials were narcotics. A class B felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison.

Deferred Judgement Approved For Carroll Man Accused Of Lascivious Acts With A Child

A Carroll man who pled guilty earlier this year to lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony, was sentenced Monday in Carroll County District Court. According to court records, 18-year-old Brandon Lashawn Dreesman was originally charged with third-degree sexual abuse, also a class C felony, after an investigation determined he had sexual contact with a 13-year-old victim between Aug. 12 and Aug. 24 of last year. Dreesman was 17 years old at the time of the incident but was charged as an adult d0ue to the nature of the offence. He pled guilty in April to the lesser charge after reaching an agreement with prosecutors. On Monday, a judge sentenced Dreesman to 10 years in prison with credit for time served and ordered him to pay over $1,700 in fines, surcharges and court costs. However, Dreesman’s request for a deferred judgement was granted and the prison term suspended. Instead, he was placed on probation for five years to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services, and court
