KSPL donates ₹50 lakh to civic body to fight pandemic

The Kakinada Sea Ports Limited (KSPL) management on Saturday donated ₹50 lakh to the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) for procurement of equipment required at the vaccination centres and safety equipment for the field-level staff.
KMC Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar said, “We have received the financial aid from the KSPL management. It is primarily to fight the COVID-19 by procuring the safety equipment for our staff. It will also be spent on developing the infrastructure facilities in the health centres.” KSPL Chief Operating Officer M. Muralidhar has handed over a cheque to Mr. Swapnil in the city on Saturday.

The translocation of 49 trees, which are three decades old, is in full swing on the campus of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation office in East Godavari district. The trees are being translocated in order to make space for construction of new buildings.
Launched on May 19 on a pilot basis, the initiative is being taken up under the aegis of the Kakinada Smart City Corporation Limited (KSCCL). KSCCL authorities have roped in Visakhapatnam-based Balaji Nursery for the translocation of the 49 trees. “We are determined not to fell the old trees for any proposed developmental works, in the city If the translocation initiative goes as planned, we will commit ourselves to never fell any tree for any developmental work,” Kakinada Municipal Corporation Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar told

As cases surge in the district, the State government has converted the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU-Kakinada) campus into a 1000-bed COVID Care Centre to accommodate patients with mild or moderate symptoms.
East Godavari Collector D. Muralidhar Reddy and Kakinada Municipal Corporation Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar on Tuesday inaugurated the centre on the JNTU-K campus and services began on Tuesday. Patients who do not have facilities to isolate at home would be sheltered here. They would be only shifted to the government hospital on doctors’ recommendation.

Making a strong comeback the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) comfortably took over the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) election.
The TDP and BJP bagged 32 out of 48 civic divisions in the results announced on Friday for KMC elections held on August 29. YSR Congress had to be content with only 10 seats.
Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N China Rajappa, who spearheaded the party campaign for Kakinada Municipal Corporation said, “People have once again voted for development and welfare agenda.”
