Police say the two incidents could possibly be linked, and are now investigating the death as a homicide. RCMP Corporal Madonna Saunderson says Patterson was a Dawson Creek man who recently relocated to his home community from the Lower Mainland. Investigators have also determined that he was known to drive a distinctive 2003 black Mercury Marauder and are seeking any information regarding his activities in the days leading up to his death.

Police Investigating Weapons Offence At Tree Planting Camp in the Cariboo SHARE ON: Williams Lake RCMP was called to a tree-planting camp near Mcleese Lake Road yesterday (May 10). It was reported that a person at the camp had a firearm and was chasing another person. Corporal Madonna Saunderson said Police immediately responded and due to the reported presence of the firearm, the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Service were called to assist. Police said the suspect was seen going into her residence at the camp and it was believed that another person was also inside the residence. “Attempts were made both verbally, from a distance, and by phone to have the people exit the house,” Saunderson said, “however all attempts were unsuccessful. Using tactics they are trained in, ERT was able to have the individuals safely leave the house where they were arrested without incident. They were later released on scene without process”.

The matter is now being treated as a suspicious death and BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. “Investigators are working closely with the BC Coroners Service in an effort to determine the identity of the deceased and to confirm the cause of death,” said North District RCMP Corporal Madonna Saunderson.

Weapons Offence In Williams Lake Leads To A Search Warrant SHARE ON: Photo Pat Matthews (MyCaribooNow.com staff) On  Friday (May 7) General Investigation Section members in Williams Lake were working in the City and observed a man exit a residence in the 3400 Block of 9th Avenue carrying what appeared to be a long-barreled firearm. Corporal Madonna Saunderson said the man is known to police and was on court-ordered conditions not to possess any weapons. “This man went back into the residence and exited a short time later without the firearm, where he, along with another man was arrested without incident. During the arrest, police located .410 caliber ammunition.” Saunderson said.
