The proposal moves the deadline back 20 years from 2030 to 2050 to ship the waste to a national repository in New Mexico for permanent disposal, the Tri-City Herald reported Wednesday. “We realized that the existing milestone dates were unachievable,” said John Price, a manager with the state Department of Ecology, which is a regulator for the nuclear site.
