Antioch Man Saves Elderly Oakland Driver Who Drove Into Sacramento River
This past Thursday, a 67-year-old Oakland driver crashed his white GMC SUV into the Sacramento River around 10 a.m. but he was swiftly saved and carried ashore by a thirty-something who came across the scene.
The Bay Area is no stranger to automobiles going off cliffs, bridges, and even beaches, sometimes ending in the death of those inside those vehicles. A recent car plunge off the intersection of Twin Cities and River roads and into the Sacramento River could ve ended far worse had a good samaritan not taken it upon himself to wade through the waters and save an elderly man.

In Northern California, a 67-year-old man suffered a medical emergency while driving his SUV and drove right into the Sacramento-San Joaquin River.
Luckily, Chris Arias was standing on the bank of the river when he saw the accident happen. Chris even heard the driver say that he couldn’t swim.
So, Chris made a split-second decision to jump into the river and swim to the SUV. He was able to get the driver out of the vehicle and told the driver to hold onto his back, as he swam back to shore.
Chris admitted he was “pretty scared” because of the current and the cold temperature of the water.
