RIGBY, Idaho It is an absolute blessing that two students and a custodian were not more seriously injured or killed after being shot Thursday morning at Rigby Middle School.
Dr. Michael Lemon, the trauma medical director at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, said during a news conference at the Jefferson School District Office that three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and should recover.
The school employee was shot one time in what Lemon described as a through and through extremity injury. He was treated and released by Thursday afternoon. One student was shot once in an extremity and may require surgery, according to Lemon. The other student was potentially shot twice, and two limbs were hit.

Sixth grade girl opens fire at middle school in Idaho, injuring 3
Two students and one adult were injured in the shooting, investigators are still working to determine a motive.

RIGBY, Idaho (ABC) – A female middle school student opened fire on classmates in Rigby, Idaho, on Thursday, officials said.
Two students and one adult were injured, police said. The adult was treated and released from Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, while the two students one girl and one boy had non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Both will remain in the hospital overnight, and may require surgery, hospital officials said at a press conference.

A SIXTH-grade girl brought a gun to Rigby Middle School in Idaho and shot two students and a janitor before a teacher disarmed her.
The three people who were shot in the Thursday morning attack sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said the girl pulled a handgun from her backpack at the Idaho middle school and fired off several rounds. A sixth-grade, female student retrieved a handgun from her backpack, she fired multiple rounds inside of the school and out [and] she injured three people, Anderson said.
She was disarmed by a female teacher and held until police arrived to take her into custody, Anderson said.

May 6 (UPI) Two students and one adult sustained injuries Thursday after a sixth-grade student opened fire at an Idaho middle school, police said.
Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said officers arrested the suspected gunman, who pulled a gun from her backpack at Rigby Middle School and shot two people. She went outside the school and shot a third person, he added.

Anderson said a teacher disarmed the student and detained her until police arrived at the scene. This is the worst nightmare a school district could ever face, Superintendent Chad Martin said during a news conference. We prepare for it, but we re never truly ready for it.
