A sixth-grade girl brought a gun to her Idaho middle school, shot and wounded two students and a custodian, and then was disarmed by a teacher Thursday, authorities said.
The three were shot in their extremities and were expected to survive, officials said at a news conference.
Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said the girl pulled a handgun from her backpack and fired multiple rounds inside and outside Rigby Middle School in the small city of Rigby, about 95 miles (145 kilometers) southwest of Yellowstone National Park.
A female teacher disarmed the girl and held her until law enforcement arrived and took her into custody, authorities said, without giving other details. Authorities said they were investigating the motive for the attack and where the girl got the gun.

(RIGBY, Idaho) A female middle school student opened fire on classmates in Rigby, Idaho, on Thursday, officials said.
Two students and one adult were injured, police said. The adult was treated and released from Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, while the two students one girl and one boy had non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Both will remain in the hospital overnight, and may require surgery, hospital officials said at a press conference.
The sixth grader removed a handgun from her backpack and began firing just after 9 a.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said at the press conference. Two people were shot in a school hallway, before she moved outside and another person was shot, the sheriff’s office said.

(Reuters) -A sixth-grade girl pulled a handgun from a backpack at her eastern Idaho school on Thursday and opened fire, hitting two fellow students and a member of school staff and inflicting non-life-threatening injuries on them, officials said.
The girl was disarmed by a teacher at Rigby Middle School in Rigby, Idaho, a remote community about 270 miles (435 km) east of Boise, and held until law enforcement arrived, Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said. Her name and exact age weren t immediately released. She fired multiple rounds inside of the school and out, Anderson said at a news conference. We don t have a lot of details of why. That is being investigated.

Idaho- As per police report, a girl from sixth grade about the age of 11-12, opened fired at her middle school in the northwestern US state of Idaho on Thursday, leaving three people injured.
The place where this incident occurred is Rigby Middle School located near Idaho Falls. The student who initiated the shootings has not been named yet.
The police said that one adult and two students have been injured. While the adult was released from the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after receiving treatment, the two students a girl and a boy will remain in the hospital overnight. Hospital officials in a press conference said that the students had injuries that were non-life-threatening.
