The first pitch between NCAA postseason automatic qualifiers UW-Oshkosh (24-11) and Illinois College (25-12) is scheduled for 10 a.m. at UW-Eau Claire’s Bollinger Fields. The Eau Claire Regional features four games Friday and continues Saturday and Sunday (May 22-23). The winner at each of the eight six-team regionals advances to play for the national championship May 27-June 1 in Salem, Va. Published May 18. 2021 8:24PM  Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut President and CEO Maryam Elahi received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday. Elahi has served as the director of the International Women’s Program at the Open Society Foundations in New York City, the founding director of the Human Rights Program at Trinity College in Hartford, and the Advocacy Director on the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe for Amnesty International in Washington, D.C., and has taught international human rights law. She spoke at the commencement ceremony and encouraged graduates to think about what they want their legacy to be:

Campus news and notes Iacocca inducted into mathematics honor society WINDHAM, Conn.   Eastern Connecticut State University s Mathematical Sciences Department inducted 19 students into the Connecticut Beta Chapter of the Kappa Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor Society on April 23. Among the students inducted was senior  Natalie Iacocca of Holden, who majors in mathematics. Established in 1931, KME recognizes students who have excelled in the field of mathematics. Eastern Connecticut s Beta chapter was created in 1981. To be eligible, students must major in mathematics, have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, a major GPA of 3.3, and complete at least two 300-level mathematics courses at Eastern. A degree in mathematics will prepare students for a range of career options in business, industry, government and education.
