(MENAFN - IANS) p>New Delhi, Feb 13 (IANS) With the bypolls in five municipal wards in Delhi nearing, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sharpened its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, running the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
At a time when all three civic agencies North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North DMC), East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), are debating their annual budgets and new proposals, the AAP has been opposing many of their proposals.
The BJP-ruled three civic agencies in the capital have proposed to increase the development funds of Municipal Councillors from 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore or above.

Delhi MCD election 2021: 73 nominations filed for February 28 polls
Over 70 nominations, including duplicate applications from some candidates, have been received by poll authorities for the February 28 civic bypolls, officials said on Monday. February 8 was the last date to file nominations for the by-elections for which all the parties BJP, Congress and AAP have fielded candidates. A total of 73 nominations have been received by the Delhi State Election Commission till today (Monday). However, many candidates have filed duplicate applications too, so final figures we will get to know post scrutiny, a senior official said.
By-elections to fill vacancies in five municipal wards in the national capital will be held with all COVID-19 safety precautions, they said.
India needs to re-think at least five policies in respect of waste management
If the government is serious about Swachh Bharat, it should appoint a globally acknowledged third party inspection agency like SGS . Let the agency do this work at no cost to the government and instead just collect a percentage of the fines (that were not paid) from defaulting companies.
For the last few years, Indian politicians like to rail and rant against the use of plastic. Some states have even gone to the absurd extent of trying to ban the use of plastic, and then sheepishly bring out an ever expanding list of places where plastic can be used for some more time.
NGT directs Delhi govt, Municipal Corporations to remediate legacy waste dumpsites ANI | Updated: Feb 01, 2021 21:28 IST
New Delhi [India], February 1 (ANI): The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Delhi government and the municipal corporations concerned, to coordinate and execute the work of remediating the legacy waste dumpsites of Bhalswa, Ghazipur and Okhla, for enforcing the rule of law and protection of the environment and public health.
NGT s direction came while disposing of an application that said the dumpsites of Delhi, where huge garbage has accumulated over the period of time, adversely impacts the public health and environment, and are in requirement of emergent, scientific and environmentally safe disposal, as per applicable rules.
