Suspected gunman charged with killing man who tried to stop car theft 1 month 4 weeks 2 days ago Friday, January 22 2021 Jan 22, 2021 January 22, 2021 12:40 PM January 22, 2021 in News Source: WBRZ Share: BATON ROUGE - Nearly two years after a man was gunned down while trying to stop someone from stealing his car, the suspected gunman is now facing charges.  Bobby Earl, 31, was arrested Thursday and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the charge of second-degree murder. Earl was allegedly attempting to steal the car of Everette Williams, 28, at the time of the shooting in February 2019. When Williams tried to intervene, Earl allegedly shot him.

Naquail Weaver wasn’t expecting to be home with his family for Christmas. The 22-year-old was in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, held on a $3,000 bail with expectations of a release sometime in early January.  But Weaver got to spend the holidays with his fiancée and his 3-month-old son after students from LSU’s Democracy at Work paid his bond on the morning of Dec. 25.  Weaver was one of six prisoners the organization freed by using profits from t-shirts it sold on Etsy.  “Sometimes I still think, ‘I’m not supposed to be home,’” Weaver said. “But God answered my prayers and those people came through.”

(WAFB) - Officials with the Baton Rouge Police Department say they are investigating the death of a man, which occurred while he was in their custody Wednesday, Dec. 23. Police say Terry Bagget, 42, of Baker, was in police custody after being arrested on the charge of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana when he first complained to officers of medical difficulty around 7 p.m. Bagget was transported by East Baton Rouge Parish EMS to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, according to police.
