32 31 Lakh Domicile Certificates Issued, Over 1 22 Lakh To Non-PRC Holders

SRINAGAR: Over 32.31 lakh people in Jammu and Kashmir have been given domicile certificates and include 122671 persons who were not Permanent Resident Certificate holders, Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said on Tuesday. “As per information provided by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, a total of 35,44,938 applications for issue of Domicile Certificates have been received as on 31st  December 2020, out of which 32,31,353 applicants have been issued Domicile Certificates,” Reddy said in a written reply to a question by parliamentarian Balubhau alias Suresh Narayan Dhanorkar. In a specific query by the Congress parliamentarian from Chandrapur constituency in Maharastra regarding “the total number of domicile certificates that have been issued to holders of the erstwhile Permanent Resident Certificate”, Reddy said: “As on 31st December, 2020, a total of 31,08,682 Domicile Certificates have been issued to the dependents/holders of erstwhile Permanent Resident Cert

The militants shot Akash Mehra son of Ramesh Kumar Mehra outside his famous eatery at Sonwar this evening. He was immediately rushed to SMHS Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical. The eatery is located in Durganag area of the city which is near the office of UN Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) and the residence of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Justice.

Moreover, details of vital documents are not being reflected in the web-portal although the same is imperative for real time monitoring and to avoid chances of any misuse. In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 309 of the Constitution of India read with Section 15 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Decentralization and Recruitment) Act, 2010, the Government vide notification dated May 18, 2020 issued Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2020.
