Court Strikes Down Indiana Sanctuary City Seeking to Protect Illegal Aliens

A court struck down the sanctuary policies of East Chicago, Indiana, ruling that they violated a statewide ban on sanctuary jurisdictions that seek to protect criminal illegal aliens from arrest and deportation.
Late last week, Judge Thomas Hallett of Indiana’s Lake County Superior Court ruled that the sanctuary policies adopted in East Chicago in response to President Trump’s pro-enforcement agenda violated the state’s 2011 law that bans sanctuary jurisdictions.
“We are pleased that, after extended litigation, the court has recognized the obvious fact that such ordinances are illegal in Indiana,” attorney James Bopp, Jr., who represented residents Greg Serbon and John Allen, said in a statement. “There must be no more such ordinances in Indiana, and those in existence are clearly in violation of Indiana law.”
That process is accomplished by sending immigration detainers (Form I-247) to the prison or jail that is incarcerating the alien. Detainers
Notify the prison or jail that incarcerated aliens are subject to deportation charges or a deportation order and that ICE intends to put them in removal proceedings or execute their deportation orders when they finish their sentences;
Ask the prison or jail to notify ICE when such aliens are about to be released; and
Ask them to retain custody for up to 48 hours beyond the time when they otherwise would be released to provide ICE with time to pick them up.
Life in Prison for MS-13 Member Convicted in Murder of Texas Teen

HOUSTON, Texas A Texas jury rendered a sentence of life without parole to an MS-13 gang member convicted in the killing of a Houston-area teenager. The victim witnessed several gang-related murders before being lured to Missouri City, Texas, for his own execution.
A jury in Harris County, Texas, sentenced Douglas Alexander Herrera-Hernandez, an MS-13 gang member who illegally entered the United States in December 2014, to spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of 16-year-old Estuar Quinonez. The victim suffered 15 gunshot wounds as he sat on a park bench in Buffalo Run Park on June 13, 2016, Fox 26 Houston reported.
Joe Biden Takes 94 Executive Actions on Immigration in 100 Days

President Joe Biden unleashed a flurry of 94 executive actions on immigration in his first 100 days, according to an analysis by the Migration Policy Institute.
The president and his administration moved quickly to dismantle immigration enforcement measures put into place by former President Donald Trump, opening up the border to more illegal aliens and noncitizens.
Unattended migrants continue to rush the border after Biden ended Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy and other measures to reduce the flow of noncitizens crossing the border.
Under Biden, the Department of Homeland Security ordered Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to stop targeting illegal aliens for removal unless they pose gang involvement or significant criminal charges. ICE cases are also subject to review, slowing, or reversing enforcement actions.

A vehicle caravan for immigrant rights drove through downtown Santa Rosa on Saturday. Dozens of cars participated in the procession honking their horns and waving signs supporting rights for immigrants. Some signs also targeted Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE. They also showed placards supporting California SB 321, which would extend OSHA protections to domestic workers. Following the drive, demonstrators then took part in an online rally.
