A small, colourful lilac tree now stands proudly in front of the Family & Community Support Services building recognizing both progress made in combating elder abuse and its continued effect on the Cochrane community.
“Elder abuse happens everywhere, but we need to be a community that talks about it because you can’t find the solutions if you can’t identify the problems,” said councillor Susan Flowers.

There are several free virtual courses this month offered through the local Family & Community Support Services office that parents might want to keep in mind.
The next weekly ‘Parent Coffee and Connect’ is set for March 12 at 10 a.m., where parents can join other parents and caregivers for “virtual conversation and connection.” A family support worker joins the group as well. A Zoom link and password can be found in the version of the activity guide accessible at Cochrane.ca/ProgramGuide.
