NEW ORLEANS – All-America honors for the
2021 NJCAA
Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track
& Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-America honors by
finishing among the top-8 in their events – including as a member of a relay –
at the
2021 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this past
weekend in Pittsburg, Kansas.
South Plains (Texas) and
Iowa Western CC captured the men’s
and women’s team titles, respectively. It was the Texans’ first crown since
2016, while the Reivers topped the podium for the first time in program history.
A total of eight different programs earned 20 or more
Marshall, in his third year as head coach of the Reivers, led his team to a thrilling victory at the NJCAA Indoor Championships. Needing to finish at least third in the meet-ending 4×400 relay for a share of the title, Iowa Western CC won the event outright by more than one second with Nickisha Pryce on the anchor and walked out of the Robert W. Plaster Center as champions. The Reviers totaled 117 points with six event champions – 400, mile, 3000, 5000, 4×400, high jump – and top-8 finishes in 16 events, including those just mentioned. Earlier in the season, Iowa Western CC also won the team title at the NJCAA Region XI/ICCAC Indoor Championships with 238 points.
