Southern California jumped up two spots to make its first appearance within the top-5 this year, while
Texas dropped one spot to No. 5.
The Razorbacks earned 3 more top-10 nationally-ranked marks, bringing their season total to 24 after two weeks of competition. Arkansas turned in 8 marks that sit within the top-5 of their respective events, including four national leading marks:
Paris Peoples in the 400 (52.48);
Lauren Gregory in the mile (4:35.69);
Katie Izzo in the 5000 (15:36.22) and the 4×400 also improved upon their No. 1 time (3:30.80).
The second-ranked Aggies remain unchanged and now has 12 top-10 marks following their weekend at the Texas Tech Classic. The biggest showing for the Aggies was from
Kansas men’s and women’s track & field teams travel to Lubbock, Texas on January 29-30 to compete in the Texas Tech Invitational, featuring nine schools, in what will be a competitive weekend of track & field.
Top 25-ranked BYU track teams look to continue early success
The BYU men’s and women’s track teams head into their third meet of the season ranked in the newly-released U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll. The men’s team is ranked No. 4 and the women’s team is No. 24.
Both track teams are looking to use the rankings as a source of motivation at the UW Preview and Weber State Invitational, both of which start on Friday, Jan. 29.
“That’s that goal we have, we always say we want to be a top-20 team,” said men’s and women’s throws coach Nik Arrhenius. “It’s great. It’s motivating.”
Danshinelle Dyer and
David Bosquez Grimaldo lead Iowa Central CC as both hold down national-leading marks: Dyer in both the 60 (6.79) and the 60H (8.06); Grimaldo in the high jump at 2.00m (6-6¾). The Tritons also have the top-ranked 4×800 relay team at 7:52.88c (7:59.64).
Indian Hills CC has its best ranking in program history at No. 2. The Warriors also have 27 national top-10 marks with four of those topping the chart: Aurel Tchanbi in the 200 (21.77), Jackson Burnett in both the 800 (1:52.73) and mile (4:13.96), as well as the 4×400 relay. Indian Hills actually has four different athletes ranked in the top-10 of the 200, 400 and 800.
Iowa Western CC comes in at No. 3 for its best billing since the 2016 season when it went as high as No. 2 in Week 2. The Reivers are led by
