Yousos Apdoulrashim Cambodia ready to exit LDC status Sun, 9 May 2021 Cambodia is well-prepared to minimise economic risks when it graduates from its Least Developed Countries status, according to a senior official at the Ministry of Commerce on May 7. Four LDCs – Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh and Nepal – met at a virtual workshop last week to explore potential solutions for managing a smooth exit from their UN designations, discuss potential challenges in the post-LDC era, and assess the impact of Covid-19 on the textile and garment sectors.

The fuss about GSP+

EU parliament’s resolution for reviewing the preferential scheme for imports from Pakistan has triggered some panic ISLAMBAD: The expression out of the frying pan and into the fire may be considered apt for Pakistan as it faces a potential threat to its exports to the European Union just as the country had begun to recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. “Notwithstanding, the recent rise in Covid cases, Pakistan has been showing signs of a fragile economic recovery with a gradual resumption of economic dynamism,” according to a new World Bank report. The Covid-19 outbreak dealt a devastating blow to the world economy as global trade came to a grinding halt with economies going into lockdown. Even though Pakistan did not escape unscathed, it managed to rebound fairly quickly aided by the textile industry that received hefty orders from international buyers.

In the UK the Queen approved the agreement on Thursday. By contrast, GPLv3 and AGPLv3 each include clauses (in section 13 of each license) that together achieve a form of mutual compatibility for the two licenses. These clauses explicitly allow the “conveying” of a work formed by linking code licensed under the one license against code licensed under the other license,[3] despite the licenses otherwise not allowing relicensing under the terms of each other.[4] In this way, the copyleft of each license is relaxed to allow distributing such combinations.[4] This is why, by Black Duck’s own analysis of over two million open source projects, permissive licenses power over 50% of all open source projects (and even more if we recognize that GPL 2.0 licensing effectively acts like a permissive license in cloud computing contexts): Reading Black Duck Software’s newest paean to the Affero General Public License (AGPL) (“The Quietly Accelerating Adoption of the AGPL”), one could

RIETI - Bangladesh – Graduation from Least Developed Countries Status and Its Implications

Bangladesh – Graduation from Least Developed Countries Status and Its Implications Creation Date/NO. Abstract This paper discusses the implications and impacts of Bangladesh s graduation from the Least Developed Countries (LDC) status through an analysis of the country s economic and industrial structure, a summary of the event of graduation, and a survey and analysis of issues in relation to Japanese companies. Bangladesh is expected to graduate from the LDC in 2026. While graduation has some advantages, such as improvement of the country s external image, it also has some disadvantages, such as the inability to use the special preferential tariffs that are granted to countries with that status by the international community. The survey conducted by the authors demonstrates that Japanese companies that operate in Bangladesh and that benefit from special preferential tariffs have already begun to gather information and are even considering transferring their production bases.
