With these changes, curling will move to a two-wave approach for the athletes. The two-wave system allows the athletes from the Mixed Team event to return home at the conclusion of the competition. Then, prior to the beginning of the Mixed Doubles competition, athletes competing in that event will begin arriving at the Games.
Faivre claims success of Lausanne 2020 exceeded our expectations Sunday, 7 February 2021
Lausanne 2020 President Virginie Faivre believes last year s Winter Youth Olympic Games exceeded the expectations of the Organising Committee.
Faivre admitted organisers were lucky that they were able to host the event prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which came shortly after the conclusion of the Youth Olympics, calling the thought of that happening today surreal .
She also said the first evening at the medal ceremony made her confident that the Games would be a success, having awarded medals to two Swiss girls from her local region. I think that s when I realised that the population wanted to take part in these Games - I think it even exceeded our expectations, said Faivre.
