Richelle Rada offers nutrition advice for long-term health

Columnist Richelle Rada is a registered nutritionist and licensed dietitian who has spent most of her career working in hospital settings, including Guam Regional Medical City and Guam Memorial Hospital.
“When I would go to patient rooms, they were too sick or didn’t have much energy to talk. I couldn’t follow up with them,” Rada said. “That’s been the piece I’ve been wanting to learn more about in my career being able to help people along the way.”
Rada is contributing monthly nutrition columns that focus on nutritious habits that last. She advocates that each person follow their own path while realizing that building good habits takes time.

Man taken to hospital after Dededo crash

Medics performed CPR on a man who was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a single-car accident in Dededo, according to police and fire officials.
The crash occurred at 8:01 a.m., when the Guam Fire Department received a 911 call reporting an auto accident with serious injuries at Santa Monica Avenue and the Farmer s Co-Op, according to GFD spokeswoman Cherika Chargualaf.
GFD units arrived at 8:05 a.m., Chargualaf said.
CPR was performed by medics as they transported the single occupant, later identified by a relative on the scene as Abel Sangalang, to GRMC, Chargualaf said.
Vaccine outreach scheduled for FSM community on Guam

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be two venues for COVID-19 vaccinations that aim to administer doses to members of Guam s Federated States of Micronesia community.
In partnership with the Mayors’ Council of Guam, Federated States of Micronesia Consulate Office, Public Health, the FSM Association of Guam, Micronesian Resource Center One-Stop Shop, Chuukese Catholic Faith Association, University of Guam Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program and other FSM community organizations and leaders:
The Guam Regional Medical City, will hold a COVID-19 vaccination outreach 2 to 5 p.m. April 17 at GRMC in Dededo. Those who received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine March 28 at the Dededo Senior Center will be prioritized. Bring a photo ID.
