KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: Kuwaiti Minister of Health (MoH) Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah confirmed that the majority of the COVID-19 vaccinations will be completed by next September, also that the estimated 850,000 Kuwaiti citizens who want to be vaccinated will be within three months, that is if vaccines are available, considering the vaccination centers capacity reaches a maximum of 300,000 people per month.
This was in a press statement after the ministry launched this morning two COVID-19 vaccination centers in two primary health care centers, Al-Naseem and Al-Masayel, as part of its keenness to expand the number of recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Kuwait will impose a new round of swift restrictions from Sunday, including a two-week entry ban on non-citizens, as part of its latest attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The decision was announced on Wednesday following an extraordinary cabinet meeting as the country is witnessing an uptick in the number of COVID-19 infections and hospitalisations, according to a statement from the Kuwait Council Ministers.
Immediate relatives, such as parents and children, and accompanying domestic workers would be exempt from the entry ban and all those arriving in the country would have to quarantine, read a cabinet’s statement.
