One dies, others injured as customs, smugglers clash in Ogun

Palpable fear has gripped residents of Ayetoro community, headquarters of Yewa North Local government area of Ogun State following clash with suspected smugglers and Special anti-smuggling task force which left one person dead and many others injured.
It was gathered that the ugly incident which occurred on Tuesday morning had left the residents of the town to flee the town following the house to house search for suspected smugglers by the combined team of the military personnel and the Customs men.
Vanguard reliably gathered that one person, identified as Sola Soga was killed by stray bullet allegedly fired by an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service in Kikelomo area of Ayetoro, in Yewa North local government area of Ogun State.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted a truck conveying 73 locally manufactured guns and 891 cartridges in Kebbi State.
NCS Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday said the feat was recorded by operatives of the Federal Operation Unit, Zone B.
He explained that the operatives were on information patrol along Yauri in the Zamare waterside area of Kebbi when they intercepted a truck loaded with locally produced rice with some sacks concealed under the rice.

The Customs’ Public Relations Officer, Mr Joseph Attah, announced this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
Attah explained that officers of the NCS, Federal Operation Unit (FOU) zone B, who were on patrol along the waterside, had seized a truck loaded with locally produced rice. x
He said that upon careful examination, the sacks were found to contain the weapons.
The PRO said that three persons were arrested and detained while a preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Attah quoted the Controller of FOU Zone B, Hamisu Albashir, as saying that the feat was a signal to all those who might be planning to bring any harmful items into the country through the zone.
