‘My memory was blurred’ But it turns out his account of some of what happened that night is false and he has apologised. In his apology, Pauw said he was detained overnight and released at noon the following day on a warning, and appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on a charge of theft last Monday. “I denied this charge at the time and still do. I maintain that my arrest and detention was unlawful.” Following “reflection” and evidence which was presented to him, Pauw said he realised there were “errors” in the article. “I had too much to drink in the restaurant and my memory was blurred. The ordeal of the experience of the arrest and having to spend the night in jail compounded my emotional state.

Cape Town cop arrested — and ex-Springbok player Jame

A third suspect who would have appeared with them – William “Red” Stevens, widely known as one of the Western Cape’s most seasoned 27s gang members – was killed in a shooting in Cape Town last Tuesday. (The case against him will be withdrawn once a death certificate is handed to the prosecution.)

Killian and co-accused make brief appearance in William Booth attempted murder case

Jaco Marais Zane Killian and four others made a quick court appearance on charges of the attempted murder of defence lawyer William Booth.  Killian is still waiting for the outcome of his bail application on the charge of the murder of Anti-Gang Unit detective Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear. His appearance was low key without the blazing sirens and armed side riders that marked previous arrivals and departures. Former rugby player and private investigator Zane Killian made a quick appearance in the Cape Town Magistrate s Court with four other people accused of attempting to murder well-known Cape Town lawyer William Booth.  His arrival, in the same checked shirt with cut off sleeves that he wore for his bail application in Bellville Regional Court on Tuesday for the murder of Anti-Gang Unit detective Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear, was low key. 

Alleged underworld leader William Stevens gunned down outside his home while out on bail

Adrian de Kock William Stevens was shot dead outside his home on Monday evening. He was out on R100 000 bail for charges relating to the murder of suspected international steroid smuggler Brian Weinstein. He and his two co-accused were scheduled to return to court next week. Alleged Cape Town gang leader William Red Stevens has been shot and killed outside his home in an apparent hit on Monday evening. While the police did not name him, his identity was confirmed to News24 by several well-placed sources. The police said a 56-year-old man was gunned down at his home in Rembrandt Street, Kraaifontein.
