Cambridge City School District, like all school districts, makes the health and safety of its students a top priority.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the overall focus has been on keeping students healthy, but that doesn’t mean that the Cambridge Schools has overlooked student safety. In fact, Cambridge Schools recently made two investments to increase school safety.
The district recently added a second school resource officer and purchased a two-way radio system.
A partnership with the city of Cambridge led to the addition of a second officer.
CCSD Partnership with Allwell Leads to Dedicated Social Worker
We all know that financial resources for school districts continue to come up short of meeting the needs of students. One way Cambridge Schools makes up for a lack of funding is by pursuing mutually beneficial partnerships with other local entities.
Recently, CCSD partnered up with Allwell Behavioral Health Services to provide additional counselling and support to the students in the district. While the school district has cooperated with mental health agencies in the past, through this partnership, Allwell will provide a full-time licensed social worker dedicated exclusively to the Cambridge City School District.

Cambridge school buses will be delivering the food items to the remote locations.
The Ohio Department of Education has secured funding through the USDA to offer ALL students in Ohio Free meals regardless of family income and is encouraging districts to feed as many students as possible.
The funding for this program comes from the USDA and can only be used to provide meals to children. Offering these meals, either in the building or remotely, does not take away from any other funding source the district receives, but instead helps ensure that students will not be hungry.
The food distribution program allows the cafeteria to remain self-supporting, and staff members to continue to do what they love by preparing meals for children.
CIS Raises Money for Secret Santa
What started as a crazy Christmas sweater competition between two teachers trying to have some fun with their students turned into a fundraiser for Secret Santa.
This year, students and staff at Cambridge Intermediate School raised $586 for Secret Santa in just four days as the school district transitioned to remote learning before the school could complete all 12 days of Christmas.
According to teacher Abby Knott, the friendly competition started a few years ago when Knott and fellow teacher Kelly Dunning started a contest to see who had the craziest Christmas sweaters.
“It was just a fun little game and the kids loved it so the next year we did it again and kind of had the kids verbally tell us who they though dressed better each day,” Knott said. “We even had online voting for the community via Twitter and Facebook. We had a blast and the kids loved it.”
