Drunken row in Mohill saw Gardai assaulted

A violent disorder in Mohill that saw two Gardai assaulted came before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court last week.
Two men and a woman, a daughter of one of the men, pleaded guilty to violent disorder on Main Street which saw two Gardai assaulted on December 21, 2020.
Judge Kevin Kilrane heard the three defendants had been drinking at home and then in a public house and got into a row among themselves that continued out onto the street.
When the Gardai arrived the defendants “completely overreacted” and the incident got “entirely out of control.”
Tomas Stefanski, 9 Inistemple, Kinlough, Co Leitrim pleaded guilty to the theft of €2,441.91 from the Courtyard Apartments, Main St, Carrick-on-Shannon bet.

A man who told a court sitting he has “turned his life around” is being assessed for a community service order in lieu of a custodial sentence.
Patrick Nugent, Strokestown Road, Longford faced a number of charges relating to breaking and entering and theft when he appeared before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court recently.
Mr Nugent pleaded guilty to five separate counts relating to break-ins and thefts at locations in Rooskey, Dromod, Drumsna and Mohill areas between December 2017 and March 2018.
Items stolen included copper cylinders and piping as well as electrical wiring.
