A young man who smeared his own faeces on the wall of his cell after he was arrested on a night out in Carrick-on-Shannon was sentenced to prison by Judge Kevin.
Tools used in Mohill burglary claimed by local builder

Various tools found in Mohill graveyard which were used in the commission of a burglary at Mohill Community College but were displaced by the culprits afterwards have found a new owner.
An application under the Police Property Act was approved before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on April 23 to allow a local workman who found the tools to claim them as found property.
The application to release the tools to the new owner was approved by Garda Sergeant Mick Gallagher and Judge Denis McLoughlin.

Leitrim resident refused bail on threats to kill charges

A Carrick-on-Shannon resident, who is before the court on charges of threats to kill, has been denied bail, as his family were unable to come up with the cash and there was also a question in relation to his address, Sligo District Court heard.
Raymond Stewart, (33) from Town Parks Apartment, Park Lane Carrick-on-Shannon is charged with assaulting Nova Farris at another apartment in Park Lane and making a threat to kill or causing her serious harm on April 26.
He is also charged with making a threat to kill or cause serious harm to Frank Lunney on the same date and same location.
Drug driving prosecution dismissed after Leitrim judge has doubt about statutory requirement

A case of alleged drug driving was dismissed after the judge said he had a doubt that the arresting garda had made a statutory requirement for the defendant to remain at the scene until a roadside testing apparatus arrived.
Appearing before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court last week was Leigh Langan McManus, 6 Rockingham, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim charged with the alleged offence at Doon, Boyle, Co Roscommon on at 7.50pm on April 20, 2019.
Mr McManus was stopped by Garda Aisling O’Brien travelling at 85 in a 50kph zone. He told the garda he was travelling back to work in Carrick-on-Shannon and was late.
