Fire services tackle gorse fire in Mayo
Mayo Fire Services tackled a gorse fire near Castlebar last night
The blaze broke out shortly after darkness in the Burren area and members of the Castlebar Fire Brigade arrived at the scene shortly after 7 p.m.
The fire was subsequently brought under control.
The alarm was raised by Councillor Ger Deere.
An investigation will take place to establish the cause of the fire.

300 thousand students across the country returned to school this morning as part of a phased reopening.
There was great excitement and a feel of spring at St Patrick’s Boys National School in Castlebar as students from Junior Infants to second class returned to their classrooms for the first time this year.
Principal Joe Carty greeted 190 students back on the school campus this morning together with 30 members of staff.
Joe spoke to Midwest News Editor Teresa O Malley today about the atmosphere in the school and he was joined by two second class students Eric and Frankie.
