I want to scale back in an affordable up-and-coming town out West where I could retire — where should I go?

I want to scale back in an affordable ‘up-and-coming’ town out West where I could retire where should I go? MarketWatch 3/1/2021 Dear MarketWatch, I’ve worked in the luxury resort business all my life…mostly in Hawaii (big golf/beach resorts) and Colorado (high mountain ski resorts).  So I’ve always lived in great places, but also very expensive places. I’ve been able to do well financially and live well, but it is also dependent on my job and being in the hotel business, working 50 to 60 hours a week. I am 53 years old and have about $1.4 million in 401(k) and Roth accounts plus about $900,000 in other assets. I live and play outdoors a lot, and want to live in the West. My wife is an avid rock climber, so she needs to be around that sport.

Beyer s Byways: That s a Grand Canyon!

By John R. Beyer For the Victorville Daily Press President Theodore Roosevelt first visited northern Arizona in 1903. What he saw impressed the world traveler who had seen some pretty interesting things in his life.  He was looking at the Grand Canyon and marveled at this long, curving geologic wonder. The canyon winds its way 277 miles through the high desert of Arizona, reaching a width of 18 miles in some spots, and a depth of nearly a mile in others truly an awesome sight to behold. “Humph, that is one grand canyon,” the President observed. A guide nodded, “Mr. President, it is known as the Grand Canyon, after all.”

PIA adding specialty flight to South Dakota

(flypia.com) PEORIA, Ill. General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport is adding a specialty flight to South Dakota this summer. Director of Airports Gene Olson announced Tuesday that PIA will offer flights to Rapid City, South Dakota this August to coincide with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally August being held August 4-14 this year. “It’s kind of a special project. And, we’re hoping that if Central Illinois supports this project, hopefully Allegiant will try more of these things,” Olson said. Tickets for the specialty flight are only available at allegiantair.com, according to Olson. With the addition of Rapid City and new flights to Sarasota, Florida and Denver, Colorado, PIA will now fly to 10 locations with Allegiant.
