By Nume Ekeghe The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, has urged accountant and other professionals in the financial system to utilise the whistleblower policy to report suspicious offences in their respective organisations and agencies. She also noted that the whistle-blower policy has aided the federal government’s anti-corruption fight, noting that the government on its part was continually putting measures to curb corrupt practices in government parastatals. She said this yesterday at the sensitisation program organised by the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) for its members in Abuja. In her keynote address, she said: “Ethical and integrity questions are germane to the Accountancy Profession and indeed to all other professional groups.

Buhari in a letter to the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, dated 27th January 2021, said that the screening was being sought in furtherance of Section 18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act Cap A.20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

Buhari appoints Auditor-General, FRC chairman Mr Aghughu has been acting as Auditor-General since October last year. President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Adolphus Aghughu as the Auditor-General of the Federation. This was contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Babjide Omoworare, dated January 26. The appointment, he said, is pursuant to Section 86(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). Mr Aghughu has been acting as the Auditor-General since the voluntary retirement/ of Anthony Mkpe Ayine from service upon attainment of the mandatory retirement age of 60 years on October 25, 2020.
