Centre Responds To AP High Court Relocation To Kurnool In Parliament Feb 04, 2021, 17:28 IST In what can be seen as a shot in the arm for Andhra Pradesh, the Centre responded over the three capitals plan of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Parliament today. Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad made a statement in Parliament on the issue of shifting the state high court to Kurnool. Replying to a question by BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao on whether the High Court was being shifted from Amravati to Kurnool, the Minister recalled that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had proposed to shift the High Court main bench to Kurnool in February last year. He said that the state government would take a decision on the move after consultations with the high court.

Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, Feb 4 : The Union government is set to introduce in the Lok Sabha on Thursday a Bill that aims to empower judicial courts to grant unconditional stays on the enforcement of arbitration awards tainted by fraud or corruption. The Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill 2021 aims to ensure that all stakeholders get opportunities to seek unconditional stays on the enforcement of arbitral awards where the arbitration agreement or contract is induced by fraud or corruption , a senior government official told IANS on condition of anonymity.

16 out of 25 high courts across country resume physical hearing

A total of 16 out of 25 high courts in the country have resumed physical hearings which had stopped following the coronavirus-induced lockdown, Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday. Nine high courts have not yet resumed physical hearings and are hearing matters virtually, the House was informed. The government was asked whether many of the high courts are still functioning only through virtual hearing. In his written reply, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, Nine high courts are still functioning through virtual hearing only. These high courts are Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Manipur, Orissa, Punjab and Haryana and Sikkim.
