On behalf of the undersigned organizations representing millions of consumers, we write to express our opposition toward legislative and Federal Reserve efforts that expand the Durbin Amendment routing mandate, both of which would limit competition and choice in the debit and credit card marketplace. Retail trade associations have consistently lobbied for greater intervention from the Federal Reserve, including forcing market participants to allow competitors to free ride on their innovative technology, a clear and uncompensated governmental taking, given the misleading title of “interoperability.” Additionally, the harm demonstrated from the Durbin Amendment is shown in the Federal Reserve’s own data [1], and we oppose further attempts to expand the Durbin Amendment to credit cards.

The compliments flew Wednesday like a brie for all before the ground breaking for Big Lakes Cheese, and we appreciated those given by our out-of-state guests the family and leaders of the company that is building a 280,000-square-foot, $185 million facility here. Second-generation Epprecht family member Heidi Eller, who is chairwoman of the board, was here, along with Dan Zagzebski, president and CEO. Two others GLC leaders spoke, too. Interesting that we beat out Wichita Falls for the facility; we re glad they did not seriously consider locating in Muenster .

Such dangerous, far-left drug pricing schemes would ultimately lead to a socialist system that includes access restrictions and a flight of biopharmaceutical innovation from the U.S., depriving America’s patients of the life-saving treatments and cures of tomorrow.

Gibsonburg school board changes meeting time
GIBSONBURG - The Gibsonburg Exempted Village School Districts Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. May 17, which is earlier than its normal time of 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be public and held in the board office at Hilfiker Elementary, 301 S. Sunset Ave. Attendees will be required to follow social distancing protocols and wear facial coverings.

KANSAS - The Lakota Local School District Board of Education will not meet May 17 as previously scheduled. The board will instead meet at 7 p.m. May 24 in the Staff Dining Room at Lakota Local Schools, 5200 County Road 13.
