Bjorn is a Senior Research Fellow in the Development Strategy and Governance Division at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and an Associate Research Fellow at LICOS Centre for Institutions and Economic Performance at the KU Leuven. He is an applied micro-economist with extensive expertise in agricultural economics and food policy in developing countries. He has worked on various topics along agricultural commodity value chains, including on market integration, smallholder market participation and price volatility. More recently, he has started to explore the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to increase effectiveness and inclusiveness of agricultural advisory services. The Supreme Court on Wednesday will hear a batch of pleas pertaining to tractor rally violence in the national capital on Republic Day, including the one which has sought setting up of a commission headed by a retired apex court judge to inquire into the incident. The tractor parade on January 26 that was to highlight the demands of farmer unions to repeal three new agri laws dissolved into anarchy on the streets of the national capital as thousands of protesters broke through barriers, fought with the police, overturned vehicles and hoisted a religious flag from the ramparts of the iconic Red Fort.
