Speaker tells off ministers for ‘political games’ when answering questions PA Media 14/01/2021 By Richard Wheeler, PA Parliamentary Editor © Jonathan Brady House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle (Jonathan Brady/PA) Trade ministers have been told off by the Speaker for giving better answers to Conservative MPs than to opposition MPs over similar questions. Sir Lindsay Hoyle also criticised the “political games” from all sides during international trade questions. At one point the Speaker cut off Conservative frontbencher Graham Stuart when the minister started attacking Labour divisions over Brexit during his response to a question. Sir Lindsay told the Commons: “These questions haven’t been good because I’m beginning to worry that we have very good answers to one side of the chamber, and the answers to others aren’t getting the respect they deserve.
