Papa John’s Pizza founder and CEO John Schnatter was forced out of his own company back in 2018 after he reportedly used the N-word on a phone call. Yet in the past few weeks, Schnatter has released the transcript of the phone call in question, and that transcript reveals the true story it appears Schnatter was set up and the alleged “offense” wasn’t an offense at all. The Papa John’s founder suffered a heinous defamation of character.
Schnatter has sued Laundry Service, the company he hired to help bolster his public image, for many breaches of contract. His lawsuit claims that the company blackmailed him and orchestrated his destruction.
Students will now compete for a national American Advertising award
RIT students Bianca Ranciato, top left; Jordan Hundelt, top right; and Julia Abbonizio bottom, won gold at the Rochester ADDY awards for their advertising campaign for Hello personal hygiene products. The student team will now compete for a national award in June.
The American Advertising Awards, or ADDY awards, honor the best in local advertising and cultivate the highest creative standards in the industry. Three fourth-year advertising photography majors Jordan Hundelt from Seattle, Julia Abbonizio from Downingtown, Pa., and Bianca Ranciato from Wallingford, Conn. won gold in the Cross Platform Integrated Campaigns category at the 2021 Rochester ADDY awards, and the team received a scholarship for Best Student Work. In June, the students will compete for a national ADDY award.

The audio recording that John Schnatter claims led to his forced 2018 departure from Papa John’s (PZZA) for making racist comments has been released amid a lawsuit between the media agency Laundry Service and the founder and former CEO.
The hour-long recording has been unsealed by the court and publicly released by Schnatter, who claims he was “set-up in an attempt to justify his outing from the company.”
“It s a major relief to finally have more facts that reveal the truth of what really happened,” Schnatter said in a statement. “Now the full recording is public, and people have the full picture. Everyone can hear for themselves how I was raised to totally reject racism. The American people can hear for themselves that the Laundry Service staff were laughing about setting me up to take a fall.”
