Salina man taken to hospital after crash

The Salina Journal A crash east of Salina sent one man to the hospital Wednesday afternoon. The Saline County Sheriff s Office said the crash happened just after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Simpson and Country Club Roads. The office said a black 2017 GMC Sierra truck, driven by Keith Cole, 32, of Salina, was traveling southbound on Simpson when it went through the stop sign and struck the passenger side of a 2008 Toyota Tundra. The Tundra then continued into a ditch and struck a tree. The sheriff s office said the driver of the Tundra, a 36-year-old from Salina, had neck and back pain and was transported to Salina Regional Health Center.

Salina, Abilene hospital systems announce alliance

The Salina Journal Memorial Health System in Abilene and Salina Regional Health Center announced Tuesday that they have agreed to enter into a strategic alliance beginning next year. With this move, the two hospital systems will better serve the patients and families of the communities in north-central Kansas. This comes after more than a year of study, discussion, planning and negotiation. At its Tuesday meeting, the Memorial Health Systems board of trustees voted unanimously to approve the affiliation. “The MHS Board of Trustees have been educating ourselves and discussing the idea of affiliation for years,” said Dr. Steven Schwarting, MHS Board Chair. “We are committed to continuing to provide excellent care to our community and surrounding area.”

Five sent to Salina hospital after car wreck in Saline County

The Salina Journal A collision involving two cars sent five people to the Salina hospital Wednesday afternoon. The Saline County Sheriff s Office said the wreck happened at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Old U.S. Highway 40 and Cunningham Road, just east of New Cambria. A white, 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by a 73-year-old Abilene man, was traveling westbound on Old 40 when a blue, 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by a 17-year-old Salina girl, pulled out from northbound Cunningham after stopping at the stop sign and struck the Taurus. The Taurus had a 75-year-old woman, also from Abilene as a passenger and the Cruze had three other Salina girls, ages 12, 10 and 10 as passengers.
