Cars stolen during string of burglaries

1/1 A MAN has been jailed for his part in a spate of burglaries and a string of bank card frauds. Paul Stephen Collins and others stole cars, phones, cash and bank cards during three separate burglaries. A couple living at a home in Netley Abbey woke up on July 21 last year to realise someone had been in their property, a court heard. Their Nissan Note was missing, along with a mobile phone, a purse and a quilt set. They later discovered a “whole raft of payments” had been made on a stolen bank card at BP Manor Service Station in Bitterne Road West.

Rapist Jordan Moore jailed at Southampton Crown Court

A PAEDOPHILE locked a 14-year-old girl in his car before raping her on the back seat. Jordan Moore targeted a 14-year-old girl using social media before raping her in the car park of New Milton Cricket Club. The victim described the event on September 18, 2018, in Fernhill Lane as the worst thing that had ever happened to her. Moore, who was 21-year-old at the time of the offence had used Snapchat to contact the girl from the New Forest area who cannot be named for legal reasons. He then drove across the country from his home in Station Road, Croydon to meet his victim who was accompanied by a friend.

Ventnor GP and Isle of Wight health boss deny bribery charges

A trial will take place in May, after a senior Isle of Wight NHS official and an Island GP appeared in court, where they denied accepting more than £75,000 between them in bribes. An Isle of Wight businessman is charged alongside the pair. They are accused of promoting specific drug companies and their products to GPs, the Daily Telegraph reported. Paul Jerram, 67, from Shanklin, formerly head of medicines management for the Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), denies eight separate offences, dating back to 2011. They are related to bribery and ‘improper performance of his functions’ as an NHS worker.

Southampton teen appears at Southampton Crown Court

1/1 Billy Broomfield threatened people with a ten-inch kitchen knife during seven incidents on August 27. While wearing a balaclava he demanded they hand over money or phones, a court heard. Aged just 17 at the time, he jumped over the counter at a Subway restaurant in Stoneham Way ordering an employee to hand over the keys for the till. He put his victim in a chokehold and racially abused him before the man was able to escape. Prosecution barrister, Archie Mackay told how Broomfield then approached another man at Swaythling Train Station and asked for his phone. The doorman at first laughed at the teen who then pulled out his blade and slashed at his face three times.
