SAGINAW, MI Two teenage brothers accused of killing a man in a Saginaw gas station parking lot are a step closer to facing a jury.
A preliminary examination in the cases of Edgar D. Hoskins, 18, and Enaris Hoskins, 15, was held before Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank the morning of Tuesday, March 16. At the hearing’s onset, the Hoskinses faced the same six counts open murder, assault with intent to murder, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and three counts of felony firearm. Open murder contains both first- and second-degree murder.

SAGINAW, MI Prosecutors have extended a plea offer to a man they say tried robbing a woman outside a Saginaw County Buffalo Wild Wings, but failed because she fought him off.
Justin V. Sabin, 39, on Thursday, March 11, waived his right to a preliminary examination before Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank.
Frank bound Sabin’s case over to Saginaw County Circuit Court, where the defendant’s options are to face a trial or accept a plea deal.
Saginaw County Assistant Prosecutor Blair N. Stevenson said he has made Sabin the offer that if he pleads guilty as charged, he’ll recommend Sabin receive a sentence at the bottom of the advisory guidelines, which is anticipated to be at least 42 months.

Probation absconder charged in robbery spree of Saginaw County supermarkets

SAGINAW, MI Less than a month after absconding from probation, a Saginaw man is accused of robbing or trying to rob Saginaw County supermarkets.
The first holdup occurred at 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 14 at the Meijer at 3360 Tittabawassee Road in Kochville Township. A man went to the customer service desk and demanded money, intimating he had a weapon.
After obtaining an undisclosed sum of money, the man fled outside and left in a vehicle, prosecutors allege.
The next day at about 2 p.m., a man walked up to the customer service desk within Kroger at 4762 State St. in Saginaw Township and demanded money. The clerk refused to hand over any money and the would-be robber fled, prosecutors said.

SAGINAW, MI Police have arrested a man accused of opening fire on another man on a Saginaw street in broad daylight.
Officers on Sunday, Jan. 10, located and arrested Willie Scott Jr., 29, and lodged him in the Saginaw County Jail. The next day, Scott appeared before Saginaw County District Judge M. Randall Jurrens for arraignment on single counts of assault with intent to murder a life offense carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and three counts of felony firearm.
