22 DUI Arrests Made Over Fourth Of July Weekend In Santa Clarita Over the Fourth of July weekend, law enforcement officials arrested 22 drivers for DUI-related incidents, including one person who injured two passengers in a 14 Freeway crash.  During the long weekend, officers with the California Highway Patrol, (CHP) Newhall Area Office made 16 driving under the influence (DUI) -related arrests, and deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested six people for similar charges.  Of the 16 DUI arrests CHP officers made, one of those was a felony charge.  Around 3 a.m. Saturday, first responders received reports of a solo-vehicle traffic collision involving a Chevy Tahoe on the northbound 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road in Agua Dulce, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a couple from Arizona after two dogs died from being locked in a hot car July 4 at Six Flags Magic Mountain, according to station officials. The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was notified around 3 p.m. of a parked vehicle that had “two dogs in distress” locked inside at the parking lot for the theme park on the 26100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia, according to an email from Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station. Temperatures reached into the 90s in Valencia on Sunday. Sheriff’s Station officials did not release the time when deputies responded to the park; however, Sheriff’s Station arrest records indicate a man and woman were taken into custody at approximately 4:10 p.m. and later booked at the SCV Sheriff’s Station.

Meth, Altered Currency Found In Wanted Man’s House During Search  A wanted man was arrested Thursday on multiple felonies including altering currency.  On Thursday, deputies with the Crime Impact Team arrested a wanted felon with multiple outstanding warrants during a proactive surveillance operation in Lancaster, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.  “During a search of his residence, deputies discovered the suspect had tools and contraband for use of washing currency and reprinting them at higher amounts,” Arriaga said.  The suspect was also found in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine, according to officials.
