San Diego Unified to offer COVID-19 vaccines at some High Schools -

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – COVID-19 vaccines will be available Monday at four San Diego Unified School District high school campuses for anyone age 16 and over, officials announced. UC San Diego Health will administer the Pfizer vaccine on a walk-in basis from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Hoover High School, Crawford High School and Lincoln High School. Sharp HealthCare will also administer the Pfizer vaccine from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday on a walk-in and appointment basis at Canyon Hills High School, formerly known as Serra High School. Sharp will also offer Pfizer vaccines at Kearny High School on Tuesday and Clairemont High School on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Vaccination Pop-up Clinics at San Diego County High Schools

May 10, 2021 An effort is underway to vaccinate more teens as both Sharp Healthcare and UC San Diego Health are hosting pop-up vaccination sites at various high schools. The locations began Monday, May 10 and will continue through the next few weeks with the goal of getting students vaccinated before leaving for summer vacation. Currently, teenagers 16 and older are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, and the FDA is expected to expand the authorization to 12 and older as early as this week. “It’s okay to be afraid, it s not okay to not look at the data and the scientific research that we have,” said Ilan Shapiro, MD, Medical Director for Health Education and Wellness. “You’ll be protected with the vaccine and that s the best way that we can ensure your family and friends are safe.” Getting more young people vaccinated is critical for our state s effort to control the virus.  “If the virus continues to mutate, a lot of the people who are already vaccinated, we just don t know if the virus will mutate so fast that the vaccines will stop working,” said Shapiro.
