Oceanside councilwoman served with recall notice

Print Opponents of Kori Jensen, who was appointed to the Oceanside City Council in January, served her Wednesday with a notice of their intent to circulate a recall petition. “Jensen lied about living in Oceanside, District 1, an absolute legal requirement to qualify for office,” states the notice, signed by 25 district residents, and filed with the Oceanside City Clerk’s Office. She has no experience to represent District 1 voters, the notice states, and “She never served on any commissions or committees, never attended any community meetings or civic activity.” Cynthia Davenport, one of the signers, announced the notice during the public comments at the end of Wednesday’s City Council meeting. Davenport was among a limited number of residents allowed to attend the meeting in person for the first time since pandemic restrictions were implemented more than a year ago.

San Diego County dissolves gang injunctions against hundreds

San Diego County Dissolves Gang Injunctions – NBC 7 San Diego

The injunctions are court orders restricting the most active and dangerous gang members from congregating with other known gang members, fighting, carrying weapons and intimidation. However, no gang injunctions have been filed by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office in the past eight years. The oldest existing injunction dates back to 1997. The order remains in effect for a lifetime unless that person applies for removal and meets certain criteria. “In our county, civil gang injunctions were put in place 10 to 20 years ago and for the most part had become stale, and in many cases, continue to cause hardships for people who have moved on and are trying to get a job or connect with relatives,” Stephan said in a statement.
